Gays, free ice cream and clowns?

Haha..read this on Miyagi's blog. It's an ad for the Family Carnival at ECP, Singapore. It's organised by I Love Children. Listen closely and you can notice that the girl says "there'll be gays, free ice cream and clowns" !!! Wow, since when did Singapore become so open minded =P

Family Carnival 2006 Ad

VJC alumni gets into Sg Idol top10!

Wow, an alumni of VJC got into top10 Singapore Idol contestants! Jasmine Tye of 04S21 is officially on her way to having a shot at being the next Taufik(if he was a she=) lol)
Just saw her pic on the singapore idol website. There.
Looks great. Just like another typical Singapore Idol contestant. Flipped through my yearbook and saw her class pic..and I just went OMG!
Seriously, I marvel at the miracle of makeup! Heh heh..or, as my friend puts it, the yearbook photo doesn't do her justice. Oh well..which ever way you look at it=)
"How come i dont have a idol friend?" My sentiments exactly, kokosing..
But then again, my friends are good enough being who they are=) Kudos ppl!

Agape Seremban, ANEW!

Check out the link where it says "quitting so soon?". Agape recently revamped their webiste! Cool! It's so much better now. Refreshing in a way=)
Too bad my web skills are zilch-_-" Sorry tananne, didn't mean to mislead you.
Btw, it's pronounced as Ah-Gah-Peh, instead of A-gape..just for your info=)

Radio Edits

Since it's World Cup fever season, let me dedicate a portion of this here to that hallowed event. There was a competition on some radio station recently. The deejays were wondering if Malaysia finally gets to host the WC for once, what would be an appropriate mascot. (ya, some of you who noticed would realise that this is a nice fantasy=p but there's something funnier if you read on..)
1st fella who called in had a standard one - the orang utan. Ok, not too bad..KIV
2nd person - hornbill. Ok lar..next!
3rd person - Rafflesia. Ok...wait, WAIT! What's all this about East Malaysia? (actually, I think maybe that's not the point..rafflesia is this really HUGE flower that stinks to high heaven and attracts flies..since when was a flower a candidate for a mascot?!)
4th person decides to stick with animals - sun bear. Hmm, sun bear? I could practically visualise the DJs scratching their heads=) Later on, a few other callers who claimed to have intimate knowledge of Malaysia's fauna confirm that such an animal can be found in Malaysia.
5th person acts smart and tries to try something radical - eagle. Ok, that's not so bad. Except that she forgot that it's not really inherent to Malaysia or is representative of Malaysia. When the DJs kindly pointed that out she was really offended. Along the way the Bald Eagle of America was mentioned, thus effectively ending the discussion. Her reply? "Oh, I didn't know that!" Ok..how lame can that be? Nevermind..
Umpteenth caller - "hello, is this XX radio? Hi, I'm XX. I would like to suggest something...(suspense)...how about the pirated VCD seller?" Ok, this is where everybody "laughed their backsides off", as sorty usually puts it. He continues, "with matching accessories like a bag full of the latest VCDs and a pirated FIFA football in his hand!" HAHA! Hilarious..imagine that..seriously, that is not a bad idea. Unless China beats us to it~
Clearly the last caller got the prize. A good suggestion if you asked me. BRAVISSIMO!
Maybe more steps should be taken to prevent such things from happening (copied from XX contoh karangan).
I have a suggestion on how to prevent such a thing from happening. It's really good and practiced frequently by certain quarters with excellent results. Do NOTHING! Yes, that's right, do nothing. =) This would mean that we will never be eligible to join the WC, much less host it. There..by not creating this situation, the pirated VCD seller mascot will never come to be. Cool?=P

Football Manager anyone? =p

Da cat was kind enough to show me a page that was quite tongue-in-cheek=)
Take a look..it's kinda funny:
The new manager?

Btw, it's not meant to really be a real application. It was done in good humor. In case you didn't realise it. Haha..like a certain newspaper-_-"

VJC has been wiki-ed!

Whoa, I'm really blown away. Just did a search for VJC for fun and it turns out that VJC has been wiki-ed! Man..
Check it out:
Victoria Junior College on Wikipedia
Btw, just ignore the discussion page where android made his comments. Undoubtedly, a person who does not have an intimate knowledge or personal experience of VJC is wholly unqualified to attempt to rewrite the wiki article regarding VJC.

Viva la Victoria! Nil sine labore..

Ipoh meets Seremban

Yay! Joseph's coming down to Seremban in a few hours' time. Finally get to meet up with him agian! Wonder where's he planning to stay over tonight..Pray that God grants him journey mercy. Malaysian bus drivers are notorious~

On another note, College Day is coming up! Anybody else going? 29th July. Drop me a note k? Ah..1 last chance to step into the PT=)

Tongue-twister

Since I'm in a real good mood, try this out.
Say the following out aloud.
(PS It's chinese by the way - Click View, encoding, then select Unicode (UTF-8) if all you see is a bunch of gibberish. If it's still gibberish after all that, maybe you might want to consider taking chinese lessons?)

圆的不拿扁的拿,扁的不拿圆的拿,
圆的拿,扁的拿,
不拿白不拿

Just a figment of my memories that resurfaced recently. Don't quite remember the whole thing. Anybody from Atlantis who remembers the whole thing please drop me a note and refresh my memories please=)

Credit goes to Zeya, who although told us it was a cheer he learnt during sec school days, neglected to tell us who came up with this zany mind-boggler

God is Great!

Whoa, this is really cool! A miracle! When I wrote the last entry it was because somebody did a 180 and released my plane. Said a small prayer after that, (asked the prince to help too), and viola! 2 people called within minutes of one another to ask about the newly vacant master bedroom! Wahaha..Is this God's help or what?
I'll continue believing..God will provide a way and follow through till the final happy end! Hallelujah!

Do I look like this?

Hmmm..my friend recently remarked that seeing this picture somehow conjures an image of me. Or rather how I sound..hmm..interesting..what do you think?

Neverchanging..

My friend remarked once that she doesn't like surprises(yup, that includes the nice ones too), and also that she doesn't like to change, especially her mindset once she's decided. Some may feel that this could be hardheaded, or others will say that unadaptable people will lose out in this world. Still others might say that this is good, that she is principled and sticks by her beliefs. Whatever it is, I think it could be a little of everything.
That got me around to thinking. The world is changing at an ever-increasing rate. So, if we don't follow suit we will be swallowed by the times. Even a secondary school student can tell you that. Trust me, it's a point well-regurgitated time and again in karangan until I'm loath to write it out. In Malay at least. Haha..it's still not too bad doing it in English since we didn't write such things for Composition=)
Anyway, I feel that whether willing or unwilling, consciously or subconsciously, we are constantly changing and adapting to circumstances. To new facts that arise. To conditions out of our reach to change. Even BS teachers can tell you that. Look up any of the M106 BS notes regarding learning and such.
And sometimes, change is a frightening thing. In others, it could be a nuisance. Or if it's just something small, perhaps it'll feel like an inconvenience. Or even, (rarely), it could be a joy! Yes, a joy. Changing for the better, or for THAT special someone etc. However, it usually doesn't stimulate our pleasure centre for the most part. Therefore, it could be that with an unchanging God, we feel a certain pull. The idea that God is the alpha and omega (meaning, A and Z, or, the first and the last), that He will never change is really something that is attractive. There won't be a day when suddenly God says "I'm tired of you, so let's pile up a whole load of evil that will befall you" or "Get lost, I'm no longer interested in the humans I created. Btw, you can forget about the peace love and blessings I used to give you." Nope, none of that crap. No backstabbing. No sudden departures. He who Was, and Is, and Is to Come. That's good. It shows that we can have a friend to fall back on, no matter where, when or why. He will never forsake us and will always be there for us, through our ups and downs. Ah, what a God we have! No risks, no uncertainty, no fear. Only true peace.
The world is not like that. A person can tell you time and again that something is confirmed. That there will no change in plans. "Don't worry," they say. Next thing you know everything you planned and depended on is gone. All those promises broken. Whose fault is it? I don't know. Maybe it's just that the circumstances have overwhelmed the greatest of our plans. But there is hope. Pray to God, trust in Him. He has, and will always provide for our needs. Thank God for God! =)

Please help me too. Pray that everything will go well, SOON..the more the merrier. And the Bible does after all ask us to pray in groups in Jesus' name. So we can't really go wrong there. My thanks to those who kept supporting me, physically and through prayers! God's peace be with you!

Lame Jokes

I'm not really a proponent of spam, so I'll just have to spam myself rather than trouble others to do it. Here's an ineteresting variety of things that I just received. Enjoy!

BOY : May I hold your hand?
GIRL : No thanks, it isn't heavy.

GIRL : Say you love me! Say you love me!
BOY : You love me...

BOY : I love you and I could die for you!
GIRL : How soon??

BOY : I would go to the end of the world for you!
GIRL : Yes, but would you stay there??

SHARON : Have you ever had a hot passionate, burning kiss??
TRACY : I did once. He'd forgotten to take the cigarette out of his mouth.

MAN : You remind me of the sea.
WOMAN : Because I'm wild, romantic and exciting?
MAN : NO, because you make me sick.

WIFE : You tell a man something, it goes in one ea r and comes out of the other.
HUSBAND : You tell a woman something: It goes in both ears and comes out of the mouth.

MARY : John says I'm pretty. Andy says I'm ugly. What do u think,
Peter?
PETER : A bit of both. I think you're pretty ugly.

1) Girlfriend : "...And are you sure you love me and no one else ?"
Boyfriend : "Dead Sure! I checked the whole list again yesterday".

2) Teacher : "Which is more important to us, the sun or the moon?"
Pupil : "The moon".
Teacher : "Why?"
Pupil : "The moon gives us light at night when we need it but the sun gives us light only in the day time when we don't need it".

3) Teacher : "What do you call a person who keeps on talking when people are no longer interested?"
Pupil : "A teacher".

4) Waiter : "Would you like your coffee black?"
Customer : "What other colors do you have?"

5) My father is so old that when he was in school, history was called current affairs.

6) Teacher : "Sam, you talk a lot !"
Sam : "It's a family tradition".
Teacher : "What do you mean?"
Sam : "Sir, my grandpa was a street hawker, my father is a teacher".
Teacher : "What about your mother?"
Sam : "She's a woman".

7) Tom : "How should I convey the news to my father that I've failed?"

Sam : "No sir, I don't have to, my mom is a good cook".

10) Patient : "What are the chances of my recovering doctor?"
Doctor : "One hundred percent. Medical records show that nine out of ten people die of the disease you have. Yours is the tenth case I've treated. The others all died".

11) Teacher : " Can anybody give an example of COINCIDENCE?"
One Student : "Sir, my Mother and Father got married on the same day and at the same time."

12) Teacher : " George Washington not only chopped down his father's Cherry tree, but also admitted doing it.
Now do you know why his father didn't punish him ?"
One Student: " Because George still had the axe in is hand."

Oh, Crab!

Oh, Crab indeed!
Woke up all bleary-eyed today. Somebody should really restrict my Astro times. Planned to watch only the beginning of the Bourne Supremacy yesterday, but ended finishing the whole thing..meaning i slept way way way past bedtime! Haha..oh, crab!
Here's a note to a certain nocturnal person: Good thing you didn't follow us, it was really for the best!
Anyway, I did actually want to go for the bible class. Haven't tried it before since joining Agape, so yeah..thing is, I kinda thought of getting a short nap after coming back from IMU..and ended up waking up much later than i expected. And much too late to make it for the class ;(
Oh, crab again..
Family decided to go to this place in PJ - Green View Restaurant. My ma's friend passed her a voucher for it, and since the seafood there was quite famous, we decided to pop by and enjoy. It was really great (I really recommend this place to all food afficiandos!), especially the live prawn mee [sang har min] and..you guessed it..CRAB! haha..oh, crab
While I enjoyed dinner, my hp ran out of juice. Kinda missed out on a few important messages. Didn't even realise it til I arrived home..haha..
Oh well, another crab there..
This is seriously bad. Lack of sleep really does wonders. Like multiplying crabs like nobody's business.

On another note, all the best choir! I'll be rooting for you guys tomorrow! Yea, the pastor is a real hero. Haha..

Oh yeah, nearly missed this out. Sorty is going to, or just had his wisdom teeth removed. (It depends on when is his appointment with the dentist..haha..Don't really know it since he didn't specify) Poor fella. I didn't know sortoises possessed anything close enough to be called a tooth! And now he's gotta lose some wisdom teeth. Hmm..at least it'll give him an excuse:
Rude_fella: Hey, watch out man! You no brains ar? Want me to bash you?!
Sorty : I think I have some, or one at least..
Rude_fella: You think very funny lar, now? Huh?! Next time use the thing between your ears!
Sorty : My nose?
Rude_fella: ARGH! Lame-_-"
Sorty : Sorry lar, I had my wisdom teeth extracted that day. I think I lost more than just enamels
Rude_fella: ...(speechless)

See, based on this case study, lameness is a real good weapon for self-preservation. Provided you can come out with some excuse for it. =)

Cheerios!

Ninjitsu

Stealth
Speed
Skill
That's what Ninjas need. No special training like those Samurai who can slice throught just about anything. Therefore, intelligence is vital. Aim for weak spots. Be swift.
Ninjas are like Intelligence or Agility heroes, whereas Samurai are like Strength heroes.
Hehe..DOTA!
lol
But really, that's not really what Ninjitsu is all about. Ninjitsu is kinda like the darker side of the Samurai arts. Where Samurai would never attack a person whose back is facing him, the Ninjitsu practitioner would have no qualms. However, don't see this as if it were something bad. A real ninjitsu master would never use his skills for bad, only to defend innocents. Even if it meant hitting the attacker at a particular sweet spot.
Nevertheless, what really is attractive about Ninjitsu is that it is THE street-smart defence technique. Nobody in their right mind would be hauling around a katana everywhere he goes (assuming that the person is not a criminal..lol). Rigid moves are a strict no-no when you're threatened by a bunch of thugs who outnumber you. Lack of disarming techniques is suicide when faced with parang-wielding idiots who wander around these days and make a living by taking your car, abducting you, stealing money from your bank account and end it with raping your girlfriend.
Don't laugh, some of these are actual storys.
Anyway, isn't it good to at least arm yourself with some rudimentary skill of self-defence? Not to provoke those who might kill you. Rather, to be able to find a way to escape if a crook really has killing intent. Better safe than sorry. Of course the best would be not to enter such a situation at all, according to the facilitator of No Apologies =)
And, it helps you to keep fit =)
(keep fit, not reduce weight..I don't think that negative calorie balance can be sustained over a suitably long period of time with just martial arts alone..especially if you start off with a BMI of 40)
Well, this is really so random..sigh..
But it's real fun! No kidding..
Especially the throws =)
Well, for those interested, maybe you can start off here..There's a good intro there, (although it does look a little cheesy~ heh) and perhaps it can answer some of your questions regarding Ninjitsu. Nevertheless, I am not saying that you should follow the principles totally if it's against your religion. That's where a fine line is drawn, and I for one will not cross it.
Anyway, here it is:
American Bujinkan Dojo
For those who're studying at IMU, here's a treat! We have our own Ninjitsu Club! (Yes, we DO have one!) Contact M106 William for details, or just read the details stuck at nearly every escalator on your way to lectures. Haha..intro classes are FREE! (should move the malaysian within)
Ok, no more randomness. Gotta end this before ramblings become incoherent. Haha..

PS [to ducky]: There is no such thing as getting a "Ninja" name when you join, although you can apply through Malaysian courts to have your IC changed. Haha. And I'm NOT Chihuahua-who-defeats-his-opponents-not-with-shurikens-but-with-lame-jokes
Just call me Hua. Chihuahua. Licence to paralyse!

Make what you will of it?

Hmm, an interesting letter. Maybe I should look for other letters too. Heard of interesting ones. Have a look:
First choice?
Make out what you will of it.
I wonder, what's going to happen?

Local Uni

Ah..local uni applications..either a joy or a drag, depending on the outcome. Or rather, it's always a drag, since they have to drag it all the way til now to release the results. And courses start in July. 1st week of July in fact. Sure there were cool cucumbers who looked like they didn't care at all, and there were others who worried bout it night and day. Like a certain prince I know. And there were others who just applied for fun and were rearing to go off somewhere else, like BJ or Singapore, or whereever..
Well, to all my friends who got into medical courses, CONGRATULATIONS! Especially those who really deserve it. You know who you are. And to thsoe who got unis that are far off, CONGRATS to you to. Be grateful. You're getting a chance to go to a campus that is quite new, and therefore much more conducive to studying. Don't mind the distance. There's always AirAsia. Haha. Seriously. Or even your Altis. So, be happy! It could have been worse. You could have gotten Sabah or Sarawak, with nobody you know following you there.
Anyway, enough of all that. I just want to say that I'm real happy for all you guys. 2 years of hard work and perseverance has paid off. You are blessed. I thank God for that.

Ps. To a certain friend, this is proof. You are NOT a FAILURE! OK? All hail the prince!

Happy Father's Day!

One thing I must point out. I am not a believer in the "new" form of family. You can call me old-fashioned or whatever, some people even feel that this is discriminatory, but it's my beliefs, so there. I just feel that with all these changes in morals and what-not over the eons there should be a standard for us to look up to, and that personally is the Word of God. The Bible.
Anyway, the traditional form of family aka father-mother-kids is still the way to go as far as I'm concerned. So, let's just submit to consumerism-laden festivals! Today is Fathers' Day! Haha..yeah, some people say it's just another thing like Valentine's Day etc. meaning leacherous days that benefit the traders of society. Ok, that's a viewpoint. But as for me and my house, we still have to show some form of appreciation on special days. (Of course it goes without saying that we will the Lord, Joshua 24:15..haha..) After all, it's something nice to look forward to. Don't get me wrong, it's not like we neglect all that during the rest of the year. It's something like a birthday - something nice to look forward to, presents to get, but not necessary.
Anyway, whatever it is, it was just great. The atmosphere, everything. This is what family is. People who care for one another and love each other. Not just for a day, but for the whole of our lives. Ah~ I'm getting sentimental. Haha..

Happy Fathers' Day Pa!
May God bless you as always and continue to increase His blessings in time to come. May you grow from strength to strength. Thank you God for such a good dad. And thank you dad for being such a good dad. (=

Ok, let the tears flow down now.

Memories..

Nope, this is not about my past memories and reveries. Such things are for later, like when I leave someplace that I adore, or someone I adore leaves me. You know, life-changing or defining moments like that.
Anyway, back to the point. Memories are sometimes said to be unpleasant. This is SOOO true. If not for memories, Sum2 would have been so fun. I'm not kidding. It was much easier than expected (yeah, even for slackers like me who last minute study 1..haha..). In fact, this fella in front of me finished the paper like 40 minutes before the time was up. That might not sound like much..until you find out that Sum2 was 1hr 10 mins long. So he finished in HALF AN HOUR!! Cool..
So there's this question worth bout 10%. It starts off quite ok. Like, "name 2 methods to improve memory". OK..CSKing said that mnemonics would be a good answer. Next, "state the differences in antrograde and retrograde amnesia". Oh no..how come never heard before?! So, there goes strike 1. Then comes strike 2: "draw a mind map about the 3-stage memory method". Or something along the lines. So that's it. Totally ruined the whole Sum2.
And I had this nice feeling deep down just before I reached that question.
Aih..
Ya, I know. Students should be more proactive and read outside the scope of lectures etc etc. It's true, I'll vouch for that. It helps us students to learn more and remember better about what ever we are supposed to learn. But then, I had such a gooood warm fuzzy feeling. Sigh, there's uni life for you.
