What's An Addict to Say?

How do you know that you might be really addicted to something?
Do you, in the words of the junkies in Stephen King's novels, say something like "I suddenly saw the big white elephant in the living room."
Or rather, seeing somebody wearing a greyish dress with a red floral design on it and suddenly thinking, "Oh man, effective in the rain."
Yeah, Aunt Jenny must have been wearing raindrop camo =p
